ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY: National Theme Park
It is no secret that throughout the theme park industry, major parks & attractions rely heavily upon seasonal hiring. And, as you can imagine, there are inherent problems with this type of hiring situation.
For Carr’s national theme park client, it was not solely a problem of seasonal hires but a deeper problem. Carr determined that the first layer of supervision - or team leads - were being lost in this process. These are the people who lead the shops, rides and food service units. Successful team leads were found to not only be essential to the operation of the park, but key to the performance of the seasonal staff.
SOLUTION
After a productivity study by position was conducted, a careful look at position specifications and operating philosophy was taken as well as individual employee data gathered, Carr developed a selection system to predict who would be successful in these important roles.
OUTCOME
The Park’s success-based focus on all levels has resulted in greater productivity at the supervisory level and has seen reductions in the cost per hire at both the supervisory and traditional seasonal level and an increase in generated revenue on a per-team-leader basis.
